There are 3 important and sensitive points in your birth chart which are the 

  1. Yogi Point – Yogi planet (planet ruling the Nakshatra of the Yogi Point) is the planet that will bring prosperity and fortune in your life.
  2. Avayogi Point – Avayogi planet (planet ruling the Nakshatra of the Avayogi point) is the planet that will block or obstruct fortune and prosperity and could create problems.
  3. Duplicate Yogi Point — Duplicate Yogi (Planet ruling the sign of the Yogi point) is the planet that can support the yogi planet to increase prosperity and reduce the mishaps that can be created by the the duplicate yogi planet.

Note – In certain cases, the Avayogi and Duplicate yogi could be the same planet, which means the negative effects of the Avayogi planet would be reduced to an extent, because it is also the Duplicate Yogi. But at the same time it would be unable to aid the Yogi planet. 

For example if Purva Ashada is the Yogi point, then Venus becomes the Yogi Planet and Jupiter (the ruler of Sagittarius) becomes the Duplicate Yogi. Punarvasu would be the Avayogi point and Jupiter becomes the Avayogi Planet. So in this case Jupiter is both the Avayogi and Duplicate Yogi. 

If the Avayogi planet is in malefic houses (3, 6, 8. And 12) or is debilitated it loses the strength to produce negative effects. 

Planets placed in the Nakshatra of the Yogi points also become auspicious, and similarly planets placed in the Nakshatra of the Avayogi could become troublesome.

Transits and Dashas

Transits of benefit planets over your Yogi Point brings a lot of fortune and prosperity in your life, and transit of malefic planets over the Avayogi point can cause hurdles. 

Dasha/Antar Dasha of Yogi planet or planets which are in the trines of the Yogi Nakshatra can also bring prosperity. For example, if Purva Ashada is the Yogi point, Purva Ashada is ruled by Venus so the other 2 Venus ruled Nakshatras also have the power (lesser than the actual yogi point) to bestow fortune and prosperity. The reverse is true in case of the Avayogi planet.
