Every planet has a sign where it gets exalted (strong) and a sign where it gets debilitated (weak).
By analyzing this in our birth chart we will be able to understand the dignity of the planet and it also helps to understand the events that could happen during its Dasha/Antar Dasha.
It is also important to understand these during transits. For example when Mars is debilitated in the sky, we may collectively feel lack of energy, motivation and our ability to get things done may decrease significantly. People who have debilitated Mars in their own birth chart may feel it even more during the transit.
Similarly for example when Venus is exalted during transit, we may all experience a “feel good” energy. We can do some remedies to imbibe the auspiciousness of this transit.
I have learned from Pandit Sanjay Rath that – the exalted planet carries the energy of the avatar. So exalted Sun is Sri Rama and exalted Moon is Sri Krishna – so during the exaltation transits we can chant the avatar mantra to imbibe the positivity of this transit. for example – Aum Namo Bhagavate Narasimhaya can be chanted when Mars is exalted as the Narasimha avatar is connected to Mars.
When a planet is debilitated we can worship the Jyotirlinga of the sign where the planet gets exalted to reduce the negative impacts. For example whenever the Moon transits Scorpio, we can honor the Somnath Jyotirlinga which is connected to the sign Taurus where the moon gets exalted with a mantra – Aum Namah Shivaya Namo Somanathaya.
