Significance of Rishi Panchami
It is believed that the Sapta Rishis – Kashyapa, Atri, Bharadwaja, Vishvamitra, Gautama, Jamadagni, and Vashishta – were entrusted with the responsibility of guiding humanity towards righteousness, freedom and wisdom. When we are stuck in life with no where to go and feeling helpless, these Rishis are there for us. They just wait for a call for help from us and can help us redeem ourselves and our mind from all the suffering.
Rishi Panchami is a day to honor the wisdom and teachings imparted by our sages, who have guided generations in their journeys.
Most Powerful Day to Honor Your Personal Rishi as Determined by Your Birth Chart
Each one of us have a Rishi who is governing and guarding our Mind. They are sitting in our 12th house waiting for us to call them for help. It is their duty to ensure we get freedom from our mind and thoughts that keeps us away from the absolute truth.
We are all born with a debt called Rishi Rna, which is a moral and spiritual obligation to honor the rishis and this can be fulfilled through various forms of reverence and gratitude, including the performance of rituals and ceremonies in their honor, the study of their teachings and scriptures, and the practice of spiritual disciplines they developed such as yoga and meditation.
Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar says – “A strong mind can carry a weak body but a weak mind cannot even carry a strong body.”
Our mind gets renewed and recharged through our 12th house of sleep. The Rishis are also in the 12th house, that is why when you meditate (connected to 12th house) you are fulfilling the debts you owe to the Rishis.
To strengthen, recharge, rejuvenate our minds we have to Honor the Rishis who guard it.
