Sade Sati is a term used in Vedic astrology to describe a period of seven and a half years when the planet Saturn transits through the twelfth, first, and second houses from an individual’s natal moon. This period is believed to be challenging and difficult, as it can bring about various obstacles and hardships in different aspects of life. However, it is also considered a time for personal growth and transformation, as individuals are required to face and overcome challenges to develop strength and resilience.

Have you observed that during Sade Sati, some individuals rise to immense fame and accumulate significant wealth, while others face numerous obstacles and challenges?

Sade Sati does not imply that the entire duration of seven and a half years will be difficult either.

The easiest way to judge the effects of Sade Sati is using Ashtakavarga.

Ashtakavarga and Kakshya

Ashtakavarga is a system of Vedic astrology that evaluates the strength of planets in a birth chart. It can also be used to determine the auspicious and inauspicious periods for an individual, as well as to identify which areas of life will be more affected by the planetary transits.

Kakshya is a significant component of ashtakavarga that helps to pinpoint the outcomes of planetary transits to a precise time period. In the prastaraka ashtakavarga system, each sign receives benefic points from eight sources, including the seven planets and ascendant. Consequently, each sign is split into eight parts, and each of these parts is referred to as a Kakshya. Each Kakshya is governed by a specific planet, and the order of Kakshya lords is Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury, Moon, and Ascendant.

You can use the Prastaraka Ashtakavarga chart on the Cosmic Insights app to see which planet has contributed to the Ashtakavarga Score.

The Golden Rule

During its entire Sade Sati journey across three signs, Saturn produces favorable outcomes when it passes through the Kakshya of a lord who has contributed a Bindu in Saturn’s Ashtakavarga. However, when this is not the case, the results may not be as favorable.

For example, Saturn is in the sign of Aquarius since 17th Jan, 2023. So the first Kakshya is from 17th Jan to 18th Feb and the lord is Saturn itself. If Saturn gives a bindu in it’s own Binnashtakavarga for the sign Aquarius which you can find from the Prastaraka chart of Saturn, then the result during that time is favorable.

There’s no need for you to be concerned about these calculations since we’ve implemented this rule in the Cosmic Insights app, which displays the various time periods of Saturn’s transit and whether they are beneficial for you or not.
