Rama Navami is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Rama – The 7th avatar of Lord Vishnu. We celebrate Lord Rama’s birthday on the Sukla Navami Tithi (9th waxing moon) of Chaitra month every year.

Rama Navami Rituals

  1. Perform Arghya to the Sun and worship the Sun with the Savitur Gayatri Mantra.
  2. Chant the mantra “Aum Namo Bhagavate Ramachandraya” 108 times.
  3. Listen to or chant or meditate on the Vishnu Sahasranama.
  4. This year Rama Navami falls on Pushya nakshatra ruled by Saturn. Worshipping Lord Rama and the Sun (light) is a great Remedy to all Saturn (darkness) related problems.
  5. Worship Lord Hanuman the greatest Hanuman Bhakta by chanting the Hanuman Chalisa.
  6. Chant the mantra “Rama Rama Rameti..” as many times as you can with a minimum of 108 times.

राम राम रामेति रमेरामेमनोरमेसहस्रनाम तत्तुल्यंरामनाम वरानने॥

Raama Raama Raame[a-I]ti Rame Raame Manorame | Sahasra-Naama Tat-Tulyam Raama-Naama Vara-[A]anane ||

Meaning:

  1. By meditating on “Rama Rama Rama” (the Name of Rama), my Mind gets absorbed in the Divine Consciousness of Rama, which is Transcendental,
  2. The Name of Rama is as Great as the Thousand Names of God (Vishnu Sahasranama).
