Devutthana Ekadashi or Prabodhini Ekadashi

Devutthana Ekadashi also known as Prabodhini Ekadashi is the Ekadashi (waxing 11th lunar day) in the month of Kartika. It falls on November 4 based on where you live. (For local timings download the Cosmic Insights app).

Prabodhini Ekadashi marks the end of chaturmas – the 4 month period when Lord Vishnu goes to sleep. It is believed that Vishnu sleeps on Shayani Ekadashi and wakes on Prabodhini Ekadashi, thus giving this day the name “Prabodhini Ekadashi” (“awakening eleventh”)

On Dwadashi after this Ekadashi is when Tulsi Vivah is performed which signifies the ceremonial marriage of Goddess Tulsi (Tulsi Plant) to Lord Vishnu.
