Sage Narada asks Pulastya about the austerity named Nakshatra Purusha which King Pururava had accomplished to please Lord Vishnu. Pulastya says-
“All the constellations dwell in different parts of Lord Vishnu’s body.
Ashwini : Rules the Head and brain of kaalpurush.
Bharani: Rules some part of Head, brain eyes and eye vision.of kaalpurush.
Kritika : Rules face, Neck, Tonsilitis, lower Jaw, back part of the head of kaalpurush.
Rohini : Rules face, mouth, tongue, neck bone of kaalpurush.
Mrigasira : Rules face, chin, cheek, Tonsils, aalpurush.
Aadra: Rules Neck, Hands, Shoulders, ears of kalpurush.
Punarvasu: Rules ear, throat, Shoulders, lungs of the kaalpurush.
Pushya: Rules Lungs, intestine, and Ribs of kaalpurush.
Ashlesha : Rules lungs, intestine, food pipe, gall bladder of kaalpurush.
Magha: Rules the heart, back, plea of kaalpurush.
Poorva Phalguni: Rules heart of kaalpurush.
UIttara Phalguni: Rules intestine of kaalpurush.
Hastha: Rules Enzymes, bleeding glands, intestine of kaalpurush.
Chitra: Rules the belly, foetus, womb, of kaalpurush.
Swati : Rules the skin, kidney, urinary tract, of kaalpurush.
Vishakha: Rules the lower part of the belly, urinary bladder, kidneys of kaalpurush.
Anuradha: Ruled by Saturn and the body parts ruled by this constellation are urinary bladder, foetus, anus and hip bone of kaalpurush.
Jyeshtha: Ruled by Mercury and the body parts ruled by this constellation are ovary, vagina, large intestine, womb and rectum of kaalpurush.
Mool: Ruled by Ketu and the body parts ruled by this constellation are the hips, thighs, buttocks, bone marrow and sciatica of kaalpurush.
Poorvashada: Ruled by Venus and the body parts ruled by this constellation are the thighs and hips of kaalpurush.
Uttarashada: Ruled by the Sun and the body parts ruled by this constellation are the thighs, marrow, dermis, knee cap, arteries of kaalpurush.
Shravan : Ruled by Moon and the body parts ruled by this constellation are knees and skin of kaalpurush.
Dhanishtha : Ruled by Mars and the body parts ruled by this constellation are knee caps, knee bones, calf muscles and hands of kaalpurush.
Shatbhisha : Ruled by Rahu and the body parts ruled by this constellation are calf muscles, muscular tissues of kaalpurush.
Poorva Bhadrapada : Ruled by Jupiter and the body parts ruled by this constellation are ankles, legs and thumb.
Uttara Bhadrapada: Ruled by Saturn and the body parts ruled by this constellation are legs of kaalpurush.
Revati : Ruled by Mercury and the body parts ruled by this constellation are legs and toes of kaalpurush.
A devotee who worships Lord Vishnu- the possessor of all the constellations methodically and according to the rituals attains liberation. Worshipping Lord Vishnu’s different organs helps in attaining good health and a disease free life. Being pleased by this austerity, Lord Vishnu bestows radiance and sweet voice to the devotee. Arundhati had achieved great acclamation due to the successful accomplishment of this austerity. Aditya with a desire of a son had his wish fulfilled in the form of Revant, his famous son. The Apsaras Rambha and Menaka had acquired unparalleled beauty and sweet voice respectively after successful accomplishment of this austerity. Similarly, Chandra had attained supreme radiance and Pururava regained his kingdom. This way, whoever performed this austerity, his desire was fulfilled.
